New Black mental health anthology with my sonnet

Inlandia Institute, the Southern California publisher of These Black Bodies Are...A Blacklandia Anthology, is releasing a new anthology entitled 88 Unashamed Black Mental Health Stories. This is the second Inlandia Institute publication that has included work by me, in this case a sonnet called “Slumber.”

I have to thank the editor of both anthologies, Romaine Washington, for including me in this groundbreaking work that breaks the silence on mental health issues in communities of African descent. We who have mental health conditions need to be able to be open about it without being bombarded with ridicule, ostracism and ignorance.

Once the book is released, I will be putting a recording of my sonnet on my Bandcamp page for sale. Romaine Washington asked for contributors to send her mp3s of us reading from the book to use on an upcoming podcast, so I recorded myself reciting my poem. I figure I might as well add the recording to my audio works available for purchase.
